1882

Danskin was founded in 1882 in New York City by brothers Joel and Benson Goodman to manufacture goods specifically for dancers' needs, and has since been one of the worlds leading manufacturers of dance and activewear for girls and women.

1990

Danskin dominates the market for US dance clothes, and have extended their influence by introducing Danskin for gymnasts and figure skaters.

1930

Danskin becomes the most popular brand for stockings and tights with the biggest new york dancers.

1952

The company created the first nylon underwear in the United States.

1960

Danskin extends its collections and develops its first range of ready-to-wear, in order to expand and offer to a wider audience.

1976

Based on its success Danskin expanded the collection to swimwear.

1979

Danskin dance becomes the leading brand in the US with 80% market share.

1980

Danskin is no longer just decidated to dance. The brand expands through to skaters, gymnasts, skiers, swimmers and tennis players. 

2007

In 2007, 125 years after the beginning , Danskin was ranked #23 of the upper part WWD 100 brands, and #5 of sports clothing (above puma + converse ), which demonstrated its strength in the athletics field of women's clothing.

2011

Hilary Duff, Padma Lakshmi, Jenny McCarthy and Christie Brinkley become the faces of Danskin for the Autumn 2011 campaign “More for change”. 

2013

Danskin succeeds in making the leap between New York and Paris through a collection for dance practice. New York-based brand unveiled new products in exclusivity at Go Sport.

2015

Danskin launches successfully at Prisma, a part of S Group, in Finland, showcasing the Danskin dance and yoga range. The fitness range launched in 75 stores across Finland.
